I have to admit to feeling rather odd this New Year's Eve. We're set to go to our neighbor's to celebrate but I'm feeling rather like staying home. The opposite is that if I remain home then I'll miss the homemade egg nog Boo's made and I can't do that. It's been ages since I've drank homemade egg nog.
I'm tired is what it is. I don't have the energy and I feel rather light headed. It's probably sinuses and the like, but it couldn't have come at worse time. I know it's not the company that we'll be ringing in the New Year with, they're great people and lots of fun to boot. Perhaps after a nap, I'll feel better and spring to life.
I'm not one for resolutions because, like everyone else, I tend to break them within the first week. There is one thing that I know I will complete and that is reading the Bible daily. I have a calendar that tells me which chapter and verses to read everyday. Now Boop gave me a book of Daily Devotions and I'm less confident of reading this regularly.
I am also hoping to walking (exercising) three times a week. I always tell myself to shoot for five and then never do it. Maybe if I cut it back to three, three days out of seven - not bad, I can convince myself to do it.
Other than these, there's not much else I'm attempting to accomplish in the form of resolutions. How about you?
How are you ringing in the New Year tonight?
Our neighbor is having a gathering so we'll ring in the New Year at home. The most I have to worry about is not falling in the shrubs! LOL
The weather was so spectacular today that I observed several folks removing outdoor Christmas decorations. We usually leave them up until January 6th or thereabouts, but for the first time I actually considered following suit. Alas, we opted to grab a steaming latte at the Coffee Bean, grocery shop for New Year's dinner and catch two films: The Holiday and The Good Shepherd.
Both films were good, though I'm glad we mixed a romantic comedy with a deadly serious espionage film. Had we seen The Good Shepherd alone, I think I might've been depressed for the remainder of the evening. It is a very long film about serious content and you won't want to rise for a bathroom or snack break. If you do, you'll be confused for the remainder of the movie.
A very Happy New Year to my fellow bloggers in other countries who are ringing the New Year now.
We saw a rainbow
but failed to capture it
as I was driving.
Ah, it's great to relax and not dream about what/who I may have forgotten. My Christmas was full of surprises:
- I raked in the bucks in cash and gift cards to Fry's. The gift cards will not last long.
- My sister, who never ever listens to me, arrived with a new digital camera. A camera that I'd recommended as a good solid buy. The exact camera I'd bought her for Christmas! LOL We had a good laugh over that one, especially since she never ever listened to me.
- We had more than enough food even after cutting back again. Perhaps, we'll get it right Christmas 2007?
- My nephew who is the problem adult in our family (don't ask) actually behaved and didn't offend anyone or make others want to leave.
- We watched You, Me & Dupree and mom remained awake through the entire flick finding it quite funny. It's a solid little comedy about two thirty-somethings, one recently married and the best friend/man a perpetual bachelor who doesn't want to mature and be responsible. The bachelor has a definite affect on the newlywed couple and mayhem ensues.
- I talked to my young nephews (who are away) via phone and loved their excitement at getting iPod Nanos. Kids, they have such enthusiasm and joy that it's infectious.
- Boo made it through the first Christmas without my FIL. The first is definitely the hardest and I believe Boo had a genuinely happy Christmas - at least I'm praying so. All outward indications are that it was good.
What were your top 5 TV shows of 2006?
- Boston Legal
- Dr. Who
- Bones
- Dexter
- Shark
Shopping for more LED light sets and outdoor decorations at Stats, a store that is dedicated to decorating. It's busy with lots of people taking today off and the average shopper ringing up $250.00 in sales, this is the low side too after the 50% markdown! As the register was tallying $407.79 and I felt the lump in my throat growing, I was so relieved when the gal pressed the 50% markdown and total was in the $200 plus. LOL
What's the best present you gave this year?
If you mean in general, it would be my time. I made a conscious effort to spend my time with Boo and Mom quality time. Not merely runnings errands like a marathon or item to check off my To Do List.Gift-wise....my mom's cable TV service. She had been using a standard roof top antenna forever and still her reception was poor on various channels. She can truly enjoy her new television.
