As of 9:00 a.m. today Verizon had successfully solved my SMS issues at work. I can now send/receive text messages while at work and all the Verizon corporate customers were happy. Everyone began texting each other throughout corporate that we were up and breathing a collective sigh of relief.

Since Email-gate 2007 texting is our sole outlet and if we can't do that, how the hell are we supposed to survive???

I must say that Verizon showed excellent follow up, if occasionally slow at times. They phoned me back after hours when they said they would. They were patient and excellent about identifying themselves and disclosing their location. I have no intention of defecting even though I am no longer under contract.

Kudos, Verizon!!

Santa Monica Promenade

There's something about hanging out in Santa Monica that makes me feel better when stressed. Helps me feel happy when sad. Makes me want to take a deep breath and enjoy the surroundings no matter the weather. It's a clear but very crisp day indeed! LOL

My plans to upgrade my cell phone to the LG Env are on permanent hold until Verizon Wireless can guarantee I'll have working texting/SMS capability while at work in downtown L.A. It has been exceedingly frustrating to be incommunicado.

Never mind that I am not alone in having texting/SMS problems. Other Verizon customers have complained and the problem persists as we enter week three.

For the first time in a long time I'm appreciating and enjoying the cold, wet weather we've been having. It's a wonderful change and we do need the rain.

We've been hanging out indoors playing board games and catching up on HBO's The Wire series by viewing season four. I can't begin watching the new season 5 without viewing it in sequence. I'm anal this way!

Aside from this Nobuku's continuing his recovery. He has shown slight weight increase which we're very thankful for. It's taken about three months and he still receives an appetite stimulant every third day. The acupuncture ended the first of the year and his balance - while still wobbly - is much steadier and he walks a lot better.

Everything in moderation, yea?

I do breathing exercises focusing on the inhalation and exhalation. If I can find several moments then I'll meditate which helps me focus and regain balance.

Verizon Cellular

I have been experiencing major headaches with Verizon's cellular coverage in the downtown Los Angeles area, of all places. I live in a major city and cannot receive/send SMS messages from/to work. It's ridiculous.

Calls to Verizon's tech support lead to the usual remove the battery with the phone on and reinsert it. Dial *228 to reset or program the phone. "Would you like upgrade? Your equipment is rather old."

Uh no, it's not old, nor is it obsolete. Besides why would I throw good money after an existing problem with no solution in sight?

Any Verizon folks out there who can HELP?

Circuit City Hurry Up!

Site of future Circuit City

When it comes to buying DVDs, CDs, video games, etc. I always think of Circuit City first, which means I must drive 10 miles out of my way to shop. I do not like Best Buy with their shoddy service and sucky prices. So imagine my excitement when I heard my town was building a brand new store!

Wild About Music R.I.P.

I am totally bummed about my favorite music hang out going out of business. It was located in the same building where my last indie bookstore (The Midnight Special) existed before it closed its doors in 2004. I swear that building must be jinxed.

We drove to Santa Monica and from a block away my heart sank and my stomach felt like a rock had landed. I saw the For Lease sign and told Boo "Oh no, it's gone!"

Even as Boo tried to reassure me I was upon it and yep, the building was closed. Shelves bare. All the beautiful artwork gone. Musical instruments nowhere in sight. Dark and empty.

To console myself we trekked to the Borders bookstore where I bought a Don Henley CD which was an unadvertised sale. Sure it was great not having to pay full price, but all the while I kept thinking about Wild About Music and why such a fantastic store couldn't survive in, of all places, Santa Monica, CA.

Santa Monica is synonymous with hip.

It oozes of cool.

Overflows with money.

How could Wild About Music not survive in such an environment?

This sucks. I am so disappointed.

Greatest Hits Compilations...

...are an inexpensive way to get the breadth of an artist's works. It's also a fantastic way to re-discover an artist that I still enjoy immensely yet, haven't taken the time and money to invest in their individual albums.

Don Henley is one artist that's fallen through the cracks in my collection. I picked up his greatest hits CD today and have been listening to it non-stop and wondering why haven't I bought his individual albums? He's an artist that I like a lot, especially when he's an Eagle, so what's been the hold up?

Off to Amazon I go in search of Don Henley's individual albums and The Eagles latest release The Long Road Out of Eden.
