Every time I talk to Boop she tells me her head hurts from information overload. She says she likes the new position, but I can hear her stress. The new position is a lot more responsibility and accountability; I reassure her that she’ll do fine and eventually, it Will become second nature.
Meanwhile on the end of the spectrum, Gabby’s stressing about a crooked nostril. Her nose is still swollen and the right nostril Is crooked and doesn’t seem to be unfurling itself. She’s already thinking about requesting more time off from the doctor in hopes she can return to work with two straight nostrils
Whew, I made it to the polls tonight after work and was sad to see the place so empty. I know the media has been predicting winners all day but, still - if we don't make an effort to cast our vote then we certainly can't complain when things go terribly wrong.
I arrived home and promptly realized that I did not have my house key! Thankfully, it is another gorgeous night with temps in the low eighties, so I sat on our porch and waited forty minutes or so for Boo. We had spoken on the cell only moments ago, so I knew I wouldn't be waiting too long. I took the opportunity to enjoy the lovely evening while listening to podcasts.
Guys use the phrase "Oh, she's high maintenance" to describe a female who is, usually but not always, very self absorbed, in need of a lot of attention, must be the center of everything - especially at gatherings, must be constantly reassured of her appearance and status, and last but definitely not least, loves receiving expensive stuff.
I have always told Boo that Boop is the mirror image, though much younger version, of MIL. She is very catty and critical of other females and is constantly falling out of friendship with her friends. Reasons range from a friend making an unkind remark about her shoes, dress, hair color/style, etc. If you disagree with Boop, you're being rude and acting contrar!
Well my faux pas was having Friday off for personal affairs, the same Friday that marked Boop's final day in our department. She is not speaking to me! Originally her departure date was for next Friday and only on Wednesday did we find out that it was in fact only two days away. My day off was granted, planned and necessary - otherwise, I would not have requested it!
Ugh, drama.
Boop will departing two days from now and since I'd already put in for this Friday off, tomorrow's our last day together. This means it's sudden and I guess it's a good thing. We don't have much time to dwell on it and with the work load being as maddening as it's been, there's not time for much of anything.
Typical of Ogre, he had no intention of doing anything: not a card. Not a cake. Nothing. This idiot has no people skills and the personality of a corpse. For Christmas I should buy him a mug with the chalk outline of a dead body. They sell them at the L.A. Coroner's Store and it perfectly suits him!
Back to Boop, she has the jitters and has finally fessed up to leaving because of Ogre. I think she believed that admitting to this would mean she had quit and he'd won. I don't view it like that at all. Going to work shouldn't be a contest of wits or stamina. She was clearly unhappy and had to do what she could to keep herself motivated and happy. End of story.
Compared to Boop, you'd think Ogre never annoys me. I've dealt with his ilk before and no how to handle his type. Boop is easily frustrated and flustered and it was weighing heavily on her. Why fight an uphill battle if you can take a divergent path?
