I want to thank everyone for their encouragement, support and prayers.
Our cat Little Girl is finally at peace. We had her put to sleep this afternoon after an agonizing discussion, a lot of prayer and acceptance that we could not save her nor could we spare her more pain.
We did what anyone should do for someone they love - we let her go.
We are still quite upset about being unable to heal her, but we understand that it is the order of life's cycle. We truly enjoyed our time with her. She was a stubborn little monkey that hissed and growled to the very end. LOL She had a unique personality and a list of rules that we had to abide by. I confess that we didn't do a very good job at following them.
In Little Girl's eyes we were the monkeys.
- We celebrated Boo's birthday on Tuesday (the official day) with our neighbors. It was a good night for all though we were all quite tired. Seems work has been kicking all of us in the behind!
- We have switched from taking Little Girl to the vet thrice weekly for sub-q to administering it at home twice daily. She is severely dehydrated despite our best efforts and has continued losing weight. She's down to 5-1/2 pounds.
- We have been so busy and tired lately that I missed a great sale at Fry's Electronics on a Samsung Laser printer. Boo's been wanting one for the longest time for work that is brought home, but I just couldn't get myself in gear to get it. And everyone knows that Fry's is my playground!
- Did I mention that my neighbor's car was broken into and they pretty much cleaned her out? This happened about three weeks past and we finally got her CD player sorted out so she's quite happy now. It's amazing how much damage was done to her dash. Had to be teens the way they destroyed everything.
- Nobuku has now taken to waking me between 2 and 3:30 a.m. by walking on me and when I don't respond accordingly breathing heavily into my face and staring me down! LOL Not quite the way I like to awaken but....
- We saw The Pursuit of Happyness and I enjoyed it. Will Smith's son is simply delightful and the story very inspiring. It was a good flick to watch when I needed re-engergizing.
After discussing with the vet we've decided to wait through the weekend and see how she responds. If she still has some fight left in her, then we'll proceed with the current treatment. She has an appointment Monday evening (after work) and we'll have a clearer path then.
For right now, we're taking it a day at a time and praying for a miracle. I always tell God that regardless, His will, will be done. Today's been a good day and I'm very thankful.
Thank you for your support. It means a lot to me and is so important during challeging times. Thank you!
Little Girl, our tortie cat that adopted us some years past, does have lymphoma cancer which seems to have spread. Our vet has recommended that we euthanize her as she is not responding to the chemo and her health is steadily declining.
We are heartbroken about the decision we must make and of course, Boo is just....well - wrecked. Little Girl bonded with Boo as Nobuku has bonded with me. At this point we're thinking that we may do it tomorrow, though I am not convinced that it must be that imminent.
It could simply be my denial and I do not want her to suffer.
...arthritic today and unhappy about the unscheduled vet visit. I know, I am a bad mom! However, Little Girl is doing alright despite her chemo treatment. We received reassurance from our neighbor who had given her dog daily chemo treatments, whereas LG is on three and off four once daily. He appetite has diminished slightly, but she's hydrated, alert and still eating. The gal at the vet's told us "Funny, Nobuku was walking just fine when we treated him." Aha, I bet he was! LOL
We received very sad and terrible news today: Little Girl, the outdoor cat that adopted us, may have lymphoma. We will not know until she is biopsied and she can't undergo surgery until she gets stronger.
L.G. is definitely Boo's cat, so Boo took the news very hard. I feel very sad and bad. Sad that she is so ill and bad because there's very little that we can do for now.
The vet's prescribed something to improve her appetite because we definitely want a biopsy. Only then will we know how to proceed: chemo, radiation, ?
Please keep our Little Girl in your prayers.
