For the first time in a long time I'm appreciating and enjoying the cold, wet weather we've been having. It's a wonderful change and we do need the rain.
We've been hanging out indoors playing board games and catching up on HBO's The Wire series by viewing season four. I can't begin watching the new season 5 without viewing it in sequence. I'm anal this way!
Aside from this Nobuku's continuing his recovery. He has shown slight weight increase which we're very thankful for. It's taken about three months and he still receives an appetite stimulant every third day. The acupuncture ended the first of the year and his balance - while still wobbly - is much steadier and he walks a lot better.
Everything in moderation, yea?
...on Tuesday and Friday with Nobuku maintaining the progress made. We are no longer taking two steps back for each step gained.
We're holding our ground and it feels good to not wonder when the other shoe will fall.
His appetite is still off and he requires an appetite stimulant but his curiosity is back and he's talking to me again! I love it when he talks to me and lets me know that I'm doing something wrong...like not paying attention to him.
Thank God for the blessings.
treatment for the next three weeks. We drop him Monday, Wednesday and Friday and retrieve him in the evening. He has responded quite well considering his right leg was practically just dangling and not supporting him. He initially had acupuncture in Spring 2006 and now that his strength is much improved the vet felt acupuncture was the next logical step. I'm excited and hopeful that this will give him relief from pain while stabilizing is hind leg muscles from atrophying.
Yesterday Nobuku (my cat) was looking so much better, still not eating the dry food on his own, but we take the smallest improvements as leaps.
Today he'd eaten dry food on his own while we were at work. He meowed at us as we walked past, indicating he was hungry for wet food. We placed some on a plate and he ate! He also meowed to see where in the house we were, since he was alone in the living room.
All things he hasn't done in a very long time. So, today was a fabulous day!
Thank you, Lord.
- Charlie had his first appointment with our vet Saturday and she's officially declared him part weenie dog and miniature gray hound. I'm not surprised as mini-gray hound was my first call. I am smiling quite smugly because everyone poo-pooed my suggestion.
- Nobuku's doing fine as he nears his 15th birthday - imagine that.
- Mom's finally learned how to work her door locks. We showed her again how to lock the top single dead bolt and how to keep it unlocked so she doesn't lock herself out. I don't know why humans have a tendency to not experiment as we age. She's been home all week and not tested which position is the lock position.
- My desktop computer is royally dead and I need to get it fixed. I believe the master boot record was made toast during a freak rainstorm as it's not seeing the main drive.
- Meanwhile, all of my podcasts are getting behind as I don't know how to synch my iPod to a new Windows machine without erasing all the music on it. I'll need to synch to a notebook until the desktop is back in order.
- I am recording the new BBC America series named Torchwood, I've been anxiously awaiting its debut as it's by the same folks who write Dr. Who, it's one of the few sci-fi shows I actually like. Anyway, if you're interested the pilot and episode two will air back to back next Saturday, check you guide for show times.
...arthritic today and unhappy about the unscheduled vet visit. I know, I am a bad mom! However, Little Girl is doing alright despite her chemo treatment. We received reassurance from our neighbor who had given her dog daily chemo treatments, whereas LG is on three and off four once daily. He appetite has diminished slightly, but she's hydrated, alert and still eating. The gal at the vet's told us "Funny, Nobuku was walking just fine when we treated him." Aha, I bet he was! LOL
